Associations of High-Density Lipoprotein Functionality with Coronary Plaque Characteristics in Diabetic Patients with Coronary Artery Disease: Integrated Backscatter Intravascular Ultrasound Analysis

چکیده

High-density lipoprotein (HDL) functionality has been reported to be associated with coronary artery disease (CAD). However, little is known about the impact of HDL on atherosclerosis. Thirty-eight type 2 diabetic patients CAD who underwent percutaneous intervention were examined. Coronary atheroma burden and plaque composition culprit lesions assessed using conventional gray-scale integrated backscatter intravascular ultrasound. HDL-mediated cholesterol efflux capacity (HDL-CEC) antioxidant capacity, estimated as inflammatory index (HII), The associations between plaques analyzed multivariate data analysis, including principal components analysis orthogonal partial least squares (OPLS) models. Percent volume was correlated HDL-CEC (r = 0.34, p 0.04) but not HII (p 0.65). OPLS model demonstrated that percentage lipid significantly [coefficient (95% confidence interval); HDL-CEC: −0.26 (−0.49, −0.04); HII: 0.34 (0.08, 2.60), respectively]. exhibited highest variable importance in projection score, indicating greatest contribution. composition, a key component vulnerability. Our findings highlight potential for stabilization.

Impact of Serum Uric Acid Levels on Coronary Plaque Stability Evaluated Using Integrated Backscatter Intravascular Ultrasound in Patients with Coronary Artery Disease.

AIM Because the prevalence of hyperuricemia is lower in females than in males, the association between hyperuricemia and cardiovascular disease has been frequently reported in females. Increased serum uric acid levels are associated with the presence of cardiovascular risk factors such as hypertension, renal dysfunction, insulin resistance, and metabolic syndrome. However, it is controversial w...

Evaluation of iron status in patients with coronary artery disease

Background: Iron can causes lipid peroxidation in vivo and in vitro. Iron  promotes myocardial injury in experimental animals. Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) oxidation by oxidants including iron have a central role in atherosclerotic process. By this means, evaluation of serum iron in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) has a significant importance. Materials and Methods: In this cross s...

Relationship among coronary plaque compliance, coronary risk factors and tissue characteristics evaluated by integrated backscatter intravascular ultrasound

BACKGROUND The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the mechanical properties of coronary plaques and plaque behavior, and to elucidate the relationship among tissue characteristics of coronary plaques, mechanical properties and coronary risk factors using integrated backscatter intravascular ultrasound (IB-IVUS). METHODS Non-targeted plaques with moderate stenosis (plaque burden at t...

Association of the CETP TaqIB Polymorphism with Coronary Artery Disease in Type 2 Diabetic Patients

Abstract      Background and Objective: Diabetes mellitus is the most common risk factor for coronary artery disease (CAD). Cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) TaqIB polymorphism is associated with changes in lipid profile and may be a risk factor for CAD in patients with diabetes. This study aimed to evaluate the association of CETP TaqIB polymorphism with CAD in...

The Association of Glomerular Filtration Rate with Coronary Artery Disease in Type 2 Diabetic Patients

Objective: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) and diabetes mellitus can influence coronary artery disease (CAD) independently. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association of glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and CAD in type 2 diabetic patients (T2DM). Materials and Methods: This cross sectional study evaluated 3624 T2DM patients with clinical presentation of CAD whose documents were registe...
